Lymphoma

Lymphoma is a very common type of cancer. It occurs in the white blood cells that help in fighting diseases. From here they spread to tonsils, digestive system, spleen etc. There are two main types of lymphomas

  1. Hodgkin lymphoma
  2. Non-Hodgkin lymphoma

This disease has lots of symptoms

  • Unexplained Chronic fatigue, fever, appetite loss sweating at night, sudden weight loss
  • Swelling and bloating
  • Difficulty in walking if a patient has lymphoma of the spinal cord or brain
  • Viral infection recovery is slow and Lymph nodes stay enlarged for a long period
  • Severe Coughing and shortness of breath

These symptoms could be due to other medical reasons too, hence consultation with a doctor would be the best way forward.

  • Biopsy: An oncologist will suggest a biopsy if he suspects lymphoma. Also, other areas affected are examined.

  • Genetic Analysis: This helps determining and evaluating prognosis and choosing the best mode of treatment.

  • PET/CT/MRI

  • Bone Marrow Aspiration

  • Biopsy

  • Chemotherapy
  • Radiation Therapy
  • Immunotherapy
  • Stem Cell Transplant: In some cases when cancer returns
