Testicular Cancer

Testicles is the place where sperms are produced. The most common germ cell tumors or testicular cancer are:

1. Seminomas: These tumors are curable in the early stages.

2. Non-seminomas are more aggressive and more likely to spread.

Testicular Cancer

Patients with testicular cancer develop pain, swelling or lump in the testicles. Other common symptoms are:

  • Pain in lower abdomen
  • Breast Tenderness
  • Feeling of heaviness in the scrotum
  • Back pain
  • Physical Examination of testicles
  • Blood tests
  • Imaging tests
  • Biopsy
  • Surgery: Radical Orchiectomy, is a surgery performed to remove the testicle.
  • Retroperitoneal Lymph Node Dissection (RPLND): This procedure is advised if the cancer has metastasized to the surrounding lymph nodes.
  • Chemotherapy: Anti-cancer drugs administered during chemotherapy can be helpful in preventing further spread of the cancer.
  • Radiation Therapy: If the cancer has spread beyond the testicles, radiation therapy, helps in controlling the cancer cells to an extent.
